** ABOUT THE SPEAKER **

 

Dr. Robert Donatelli, PT, PhD, OCS has a long list of accomplishments and titles within his profession including; National Director of Sports Rehabilitation Physiotherapy Associates, personal Physical Therapist for Andy Roddick, ATP tour, Physical Therapist for the PGA Tour, Consultant for the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers, and Clinic Director of an outpatient facility providing Sports and Orthopedic rehabilitation. Dr. Donatelli has rehabilitated numerous professional athletes and was the Physical Therapist for the Champions Tour of Tennis, which included tennis legends such as Jimmy Conners and John McEnroe. He is the editor of Physical Therapy of the Shoulder 4th Edition, Orthopedic Physical Therapy 3rd Edition, and textbook, Sports Specific Rehabilitation. Dr. Donatelli has lectured on orthopedic topics throughout the United States, Canada, and England. Dr. Donatelli has lectured to the Romania Physical Therapy Association, a keynote speaker at the Australian National Physical Therapy Meeting, and to the Foot and Ankle Society meeting in Sweden.

 

 

** ABOUT THE COURSE **

 

This is the most comprehensive and complete sports rehab course on the market. It includes neuromuscular, strength training and manual therapy concepts for athletic injuries of both the upper and lower extremity core. An understanding of the etiology of athletic injuries and the influence of poor mechanics and muscle imbalances will be presented. The course will include lecture, discussion, and patient cases (video and slides). The etiology of overuse injuries and treatment concepts will be reviewed. Strength training concepts to include: physiology of muscle adaptation to exercise, and developing a strength training program to improve performance through periodization, plyometrics, OKC and CKC exercises will be presented as well. Attendees will leave the course prepared to implement their own sports rehab program.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1.       Appreciate and understand the body’s physiologic response to resistive exercises.

2.       Apply the concepts of functional testing, periodization, plyometrics, and resistive training as they pertain to rehabilitation.

3.       Identify overuse injuries of the upper kinetic chain.

4.       Identify the etiology of overuse injuries in the athlete.

5.       Understand special tests for the upper kinetic chain.

6.       Understand functional testing for agility, strength, and power.
